Under the hood is Jeep’s advanced 2.0-liter turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder PHEV powertrain, working together with electric motor-generators and a 17.3-kWh high-voltage battery. Combined output is an impressive 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, giving the 4xe strong acceleration and immediate low-speed response. Power is managed through an 8-speed automatic PHEV transmission, providing smooth operation whether the Wrangler is running on gasoline, electric power, or both.
The 4xe’s E-Selec drive modes let the driver choose how that power is used. Hybrid Mode combines gasoline and electric power for maximum performance, Electric Mode allows near-silent electric driving, and eSave Mode preserves battery charge for later use. The Wrangler 4xe delivers up to approximately 21 miles of all-electric driving range, a manufacturer-estimated 49 MPGe, and roughly 370 miles of total driving range.
This is still a genuine Wrangler underneath. The Sahara 4xe uses Jeep’s 2.72:1 Selec-Trac® full-time four-wheel-drive system, along with heavy-duty Dana® 44 front and rear axles, a 3.73 rear axle ratio, front-axle disconnect, and Sport Suspension. That hardware provides real Jeep capability while making the Sahara comfortable and composed for everyday road use.
The Sahara’s exterior receives a more upscale treatment with 20-inch painted aluminum wheels, full body-color fender flares, LED premium reflector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED fog lamps, LED taillights, and signature blue 4xe tow hooks. Against the clean Bright White Clearcoat finish, the Sahara’s larger wheels and body-color details give this Wrangler a polished but unmistakably rugged appearance.
Inside, the 2024 refresh brings one of the biggest technology upgrades ever offered in a Wrangler.
